Does Windows XP support the LS-120 disk drive? I have one that the BIOS
recognizes, but Windows XP freezes on the Logo screen if it is connected.

I have two LS-120 drives on both my Win XP Home SP2 computers. They work
fine. You may have a problem with master/slave jumper settings.

I tried every possible master/slave/cable select/none position for the
jumper, and the system always freezes at the Windows logo screen. Any other
ideas?

First, is the LS-120 recognized in your Bios?

Second, and you must have quick eyes, is the LS-120 recognized during the
boot process?

Third, go to hardware and device manager. Click on your computer and then
click on check for new hardware.

Fourth, when you boot does the green light on the LS-120 flicker at all?
You may have your power supply connected improperly. Yellow is on the
outside.

On all the computers that I have used the LS-120s are listed as floppy
drives because I do not install any software for them.

In answer to the questions below:

1. The BIOS recognizes the LS-120.
2. The LS-120 shows during the boot process when the extra drives are
listed.
3. At this point I can't get to the device manager. The system freezes at
the Windows logo screen. Everything looks normal up to this point, but it
goes no further.

Then you do not have an LS-120 problem. You have a Windoze problem.

OK - If it is a "Windoze" problem, that is the main reason I am contacting
this newsgroup in hopes of a solution.

This started out as an LS-120 problem, not a windoze problem. You will
have to reframe your question and try again.

BS. The OP posed the question in the Windows XP newsgroup, so it _was_
an XP question.

First, I was the only one to reply to the post. Where were you providing
helpful information? "BS" is not at all helpful. Where were all the other
"XP" helpful users?

Second, this question should have been posted in the hardware forum.

Third, I simply stated that the question had to be reframed. I did not
state that it should not be considered in a forum.

If you do not have any potentially useful information to contribute to the
discussion, buzz off little man.
