Low Memory Copying Files

I'm trying to copy about 27.000 files (281 Mb) from a partition to another of
the same HD. But after aproximatelly 60% of the operation, I received a low
memory error message.
The machine has 1 Gb of physical memory and a page file of 2 Gb.
The same operation in the same machine using Windows XP complete successfully.
What is this?

Better to diagnose and treat the disease instead of pretending it doesn't
exist by just treating the symptoms. Doing the task 'half at a time'
greatly increases the chance that something is missed.

It would be nice if M$ provided a script that could monitor and record the
many resources that Windows lumps into its 'low memory' error message, so
that one could actually diagnose the problem. Lack of 'low memory'
diagnostics has been a problem with all generations of Windows.

Unless you are a tekkie, sometimes it is better to get a job done
(carefully) than to analyze something to death. If this is a repetitive
task, then maybe it would be worth the time to find out what is causing the
low memory message to appear so it can be resolved.

Your are right.

In fact, I could only do the task, splitting it in 3.
Strange is the fact that Windows XP do the copying without any complaints,
and do it in the same equipment.
I try to monitor the use of memory resources during the process, and I
couldn't see any sign of Windows Vista trying to use any amount of memory
that was not available at any particular time...
The memory was there, all the time...
I'm wandering if this problem could not be related with UAC...

Best Regards...

Walter, I suspect this is something in Windows Explorer that's always
been there but you just haven't hit the right combination of things to
see it in XP, it IS there thought, been there done that.

Investigate a Microsoft "Powertoy" called Synctoy and see if setting
that up to do the job in a repeatable and aitomated way would suit you
better, you can then set it going and go home for the evening :)
