lost xp home cd n xp crashed now, have to repair it

Ask a friend to make you a copy, making sure it's the
same type (WinXP Home/Professional, OEM/Retail).

If your laptop came with Windows XP preinstalled, it's an OEM copy. It
may not even have come with a CD; many OEM computers do not.

You should contact your laptop's manufacturer to find out how to
proceed.

What model laptop? If a Dell, or some other models, there never was a
CD. With a Dell, you press Ctrl/F11 during the boot to get the the
Restore Partition of the HD.
