Lost video effects and transitions

I work for a school district and have 1 lab that the effects and transitions
have gone away. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall SP2, and all the
other suggestions on papajohns site. Anyone that actually works at Microsoft
have a clue on this? It looks like when MM launches it deletes the registry
entries in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\{CC7BFB42-F175-11D1-A392-00E0291F3959}
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\{CC7BFB43-F175-11D1-A392-00E0291F3959}

I have also tried to copy the moviemaker folder from the working machine and
pasting it to the non-working machine. Still no luck.

After copying the files form the working machine did you register the DLL's?

Hi

I have done some investigation into thismatter and come to the conclusion
that some over ambitious anti-spyware/anti-viruses are the cause of this.
This is somewhat tricky as some innocent looking softwares use very unusual
security strategies. For example Cisco VPN software has a hidden firewall
which was causing this issue for one of the user and after unistalling it
the effects and transitions came back.

You are welcome to contact me directly about this. support at rehanfx dot
