Lost sort "From" & "follow up"

Two problems.
(1) In my "inbox" I have lost my ability to sort the incoming emails by
"from". It is still available in all of my other folders that I move the
incoming mail to keep them organized but I can't see who sent the email until
after I open it. I have tried clicking on "organize" and choosing from to no
avail.

(2) I used to have a folder called "follow up" in the category called
"favorites" at the top left hand side of the outlook screen whereby any email
that I flagged - went to that folder until I cleared the flag. But....it is
also gone.

And...since I am asking...is there a way to automatically ask for a "read
receipt" without having to choose that option each time I send an email?

1) Place the column back by right clickin on the column header and choose
Field Choose

2) Is the folder still a subfolder the Search Folders? Right click it and
choose Add to Favorites or otherwise recreate the folder thrugh File-> New->
Search Folder

3) Tools-> Options-> E-mail Options-> Tracking Options
