I messed up bad. I was having a problem sending out messages in Outlook
2000. I was getting a "no transport provider" message. I went on the
support site and it suggested that it may be a corrupt Person Folder. The
remedy was to go to Control Panel/Mail and Remove the Personal Folder file
and then ADD it back. When I did this, I lost all of my saved messages. I
have lost about 2 years worth of very important info. I assume it is still
somewhere on my hard drive, but I do not know how to restore it. Please
advise.

State more precisely just what you did and in what mail support mode you
were working.
Removing PST files from profiles never removes the data, so it is likely
that the file still resides on your hard drive. You just aren't opening the
right PST file in Outlook.

I went to the Control Panel, then to MAIL, I highlighted Personal Folders,
then clicked REMOVE. Then I clicked ADD. It asked me to name the file, and
I did so. I then rebooted the computer and that is when I discovered that
everything was missing.

Of course. You just created a new, blank PST file. Instead you should have
added your old PST file back to the profile, not a new empty one.
