Hello,

My friend's administrative password was accidently
changed by someone trying to log onto the computer. Is
there any way to figure out what the new password is? I
need to know because without administrative priviledges I
can't install updates to the file system or configure
networking options. Thanks for your help!

Ask him to log on under his alternative admin account,
then to reset the password of the primary admin account.

If you can log on windows as a administrator and you system is win2000
or NT, you can get its password by using this soft:
