lost IP addresses - TCP/IP configuration screen always shows DHCP configuration

M

Michael Brown

I am currently setting up a Windows 2000 Server with
multiple NICs. Ones that have already been configured
with a static IP address will all of a sudden loose their
information. This can be seen by typing the ipconfig /all
command. Also, when going to the TCP/IP configuration
screen for some of the already-configured NICs, the screen
shows up as if DHCP is enabled, when in fact it is not.
This may be a result of the NIC loosing its information.
Let me know if you can help. Thanks.

Suggestion, try using a different make or model NIC, this may correct the
problem.

Were the adapters moved to different slots after they were configured with
IP addresses? PnP sees this as a new instance of the adapter so all
configuration information would go back to the defaults. If the adapter were
moved back into the original slot, the configuration would reappear.
