lost Internet explorer

I posted here a few days ago I have lost IE6.
I hit the icon, the eggtimer runs, then disappears, then nothing.
I tried all off the suggestions, ad-aware, cwshredder etc with the exception
of lspfix. the documentation that came with this warns I could get a system
failure with this.Winsockxpfix didn't help either.
I am now thinking of resetting xp to the last known point which was when I
last used ad-serve and lost IE6.
will I lose any data doing this or does it just reset the operating system?

Going back to an earlier restore point is worth a try. You won't lose
anything important except maybe programs that have been installed since
then. It's generally recommended to not use a restore point that's more than
a couple of days old.
