i just recently updated my laptop to w2k from windows 98....after updating i lost about 1.5 gigs in space...when i updated i updated the windows 98, in other words i didnt wipe the system clean then put in w2k... so my question is why doesnt windows just take the same amount of space or at least not copy redundent files? also in the program files folder there is a windows folder and a winnt folder...so my question is how can i get back that 1.5 gigs of space back?

Windows 2000 is a real operating system, not a toy thing linke Win9x. It
requires considerably more disk space than Win9x. 1.5 GBytes of hard disk
space used to be a lot but is very little these days when a 40 GByte disk
costs less than $100.00.
