lost files

when i recently rebooted my computer windows said one of
my disks needs to be checked for consistency and then
started to delete all of my files on that disk is there
any way to get them back and why did this happen I have
tried data recovery with no luck what happened to my files

From the little information you provided, it is impossible to say. It
sounds very much like a virus executed its payload. It could also be a
hardware problem with the hard drive. Do some hardware diagnosis to be
sure that the hardware is good and if it is, format the drive and
reinstall Windows. Reinstall programs from cd's and restore data from
backups.
