Hi

Is it possible to add new fields to a temp table or do they have to come from
existing tables?

for instance - i have a form based on 2 temp tables. i'd like to add new
information on the form and want that info to be stored in the temp tables.
i've created 5 new fields and assigned them to textboxes however when i close
the form and go to a new record - the textboxes say #Name #Add1 etc and the
fields in the temp table have disappeared. Im new to how temp tables work...
can anyone help explain why this happens? thanks

Why are you adding fields to your table on the fly? if they're
temporary tables anyway, why not just put them in beforehand and not
use them? this sounds like WAAAAAY mroe trouble than it's worth. Not
to say it's impossible - it definitely is possible.

See CreateField in the DAO help.

but why oh why do you want to do this?

lol the reason im adding fields to a temp table rather than a 'normal' table
is becasue i dont actually want the data to be stored in the database - i jst
want the temp table to kinda 'hold' it as it passes records and then get
deleted. sounds pointless but it's really effective ...by using temp tables,
it avoid having to 'store' info in your database when it's not needed so u
have more space and the speed isnt effected.

relating back to my question- i realised that temp_table was created via
coding, not through the normal procedure to create a table. the reason for
this is so the coding actually does what it's suppose to and kinda flows
instead.
