Lost Emails In Outlook Express

I recently had to reinstall windows XP pro. In doing so I
have lost all of my saved and unread emails that were in
outlook express. My question is how can i get them back
or are they gone forever.

Hi Clint,

If during Windows XP setup when it mentioned partitions and that there was
an existing installation of Windows on there and you deleted the existing
partition and then installed Windows, your emails are gone.

If you just installed Windows over the top of the existing installation then
they might still be on your hard drive.

How did you reinstall Windows?

Search for "*.dbx" without the quotes. Search for hidden files.
If you find your old files, import into OE.

Do a Start, Search, Files and Folders and look for DBX files.
Note down folder location
Load Outlook Express
Click on Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder
Click Change and browse to folder where emails are.
Click Ok.
Quit OE and reload OE. Mail is back!
