Lost *.dll files

Hello Everybody,
About a week ago when I tried to play a video (which had never given any
problem) with Windows Media Player 10 and some error messages told me that
my system was missing two *.dll files i.e. mplapx.dll and cpuinf32.dll. I
searched on Google and found that both of these files were important to play
videos but didn't give any clue how did I lose them. Some sites even offered
me these DLLs. I downloaded the couple and scanned them for viruses and
spywares then put them in the specified folders. Now the videos are running
fine but WinXP explorer sometimes acts weird. At times some folders just
won't open. I have suspicion about these downloaded DLLs as they have no
digital signatures.

Does anybody know how did I lose the original DLLs?
Can I retrieve the original DLLs from WinXP CD? Or any other way to restore
the original DLLs?

Thank you,

J

You can search the original CD for the files. They will be named *.dl_ so
you would have to expand them.
