Lost Disk Space

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions on the following.
Have a hard disk of 20Gb. For about the last year the free space has been
around
12Gb. Recently, with the same installed programmes, apart from 2 or 3 small
ones of 1 to 3mb, the free space has suddenly dropped to 4.5 Gb.? Is there
an easy way to find out what is suddenly taking all this free
space...Thanks...RichardB

Hi Richard,

It might be the System Restore snapshots.

Refer section "Hard Disk - Cleaning" here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_h.htm

Use DiskPie2 utility to see which folder in the hard disk is taking up the space. Goto that folder and delete the unwanted files. BTW, DiskPie2 is not a freeware. There is another utility TreeView which has the same features and it's a freeware I believe.

To clear the System Restore points except the newest pint, use Disk Cleanup.
Click Start/Run/Cleanmgr / More Options / system restore /cleanup.
