Lost control panel

Nigel

A friend had the Trojan Backdoor Litmus on his PC. He has
run Norton, which did not remove all the virus. He
contacted Norton, who advised to delete the file from his
PC, which would bypass the recycle bin. The Control Panel
icon is still there in the start menu, but when he clicks
on it, Windows states there has been an error and closes.
Has the file with the Trojan been deleted along with the
control panel. Is there anyway of retrieving the info, or
just a basic hard drive reboot to factory settings. Can
anyone help !!!

Many thanks Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Have your friend start/run "sfc /scannow". If this does not help, he/she may
have to run a repair installation.

Kelly has a fix at line 256 to restore the control panel.
