Lost connection/setup/configuration???

Background: Cleaned (with Ad-aware 6.0)one of the
hospital computers, and have lost most network functions?

Can do: I can ping anywhere in hospital, including the
Gateway. I can connect to a mapped drive down in the
computer room.

Can NOT: See any computer on the network (but can ping
it.) Get on the internet, nor use the in-house hospital
system.

Have tried: Winsockxpfix.exe from spychecker.com. Have
reloaded Windows.

System: Compaq Presario 5k series. Came with ME;
upgraded to XPP.

Plan: To restore system, UNLESS someone out there can
share with us how to avoid doing that...

All suggestions welcomed.

Ad aware has a restore function you should try first,

although I doubt Ad aware did anything to the network.
You should check all your network settings. XP has extra
settings that you need to configure. Look up Sharing in
Help.

Thank you for the reply, and your suggestions. Will
check them out for future issues. I too do not think Ad-
aware did anything to the network; however, I think one
of the "adware" pgms possibly did something.

Anyway, it appears that Winsockxpfix "DID", in fact,
repair this PC. This is the first time I have used
Winsockxpfix, and I did not realize that I needed to
configure the NIC again after using it. Once I did that,
all is well.

Again, thank you for your interest and suggestions in
this matter.
