lost conditional formatting

Conditional formatting has been used on several ranges.
now I cannot add/delete cond. formatting because it is
greyed out in format menu. please advise workaround.

Has the workbook become a shared workbook? There are some things you cannot
do with shared workbooks, as described in
Limitations of shared workbooks
in help.
