A colleague and I needed to work in parallel on the same presentation. The
following are some steps we took when working on the presentation:
-We saved two copies of the presentation. He worked on one copy and I
worked on the other. We were updating mutually exclusive slides in the two
files.
-When we were finished updating our slides, I copied the slides I updated
into his file.
-I then saved the presentation as a new file with a different name.
-When I opened the new file at a later time, one of the slides was missing a
chart. In its place was a large red "X".
-I made changes to some of the other slides and saved the presentation
again. When I opened it later, additional charts were missing from four more
slides with large red "X's" in their place.
Finally, I'd like to note that none of the charts were linked to separate
Excel files or images. The data for the charts were embedded in the
presentation file. Also, when the charts from the additional four slides
went missing, I had not made any updates to those slides. The updates I had
made were to other slides.
