If it's XP Home, boot in safe mode and logon as 'Administrator' with a
black password. If it's XP Pro and you were =using=- 'Administrator' you
are out of luck .. if you were (as you should be) just using another
'admin' type account, ctrl-alt-del twice at the logon screen should
enable you to logon as 'Administrator', if you know what the password
for that was (write it down someplace when you install!)

you should have made a back up disk hope you learnt your
lesson and on xp you should have two admin accounts cant
you go in under the other one and reset password

.

If you can log onto the computer through another user that
has administrative privileges, you can then go
to "Computer Management", select Users, and reset the
administrator password.
If you don't have such access, I don't have the answer.

When you start your computer can you start in your
adiministrator account if you can all you have to do is
go to control panel, user accounts, change an account,
click on your account and then create a password. hope
this helps you.

You can find your password hint on the welcome screen
beside the password prompt. Try this.

floppy of xp install. i cant remember the file's name,
but it was something like WinKeyed.
Hope it helps

i dont think it is possible to get an administrator
password back once it has been lost, the only option is
to format your hard drive! I am not entirly certain on
this but I am pretty sure

Aw, jeez, B-P, fix you message threading.

My threading is PERFECTLY OK thankyou very much - my reader is set to view
UNREAD messages only because I don't want my screen full of crap.
Anyway, it is Usenet custom to quote, (although whether MS newsgroups can be
said to be part of Usenet or not is a different matter)

Try going into control panel, user accounts, click on
your account goto create a password and change it there.
It will tell you windows can,t change password, but i
tried it on my system and it did. Or try your password
hint onthe welcome screen beside the password prompt.
Hope this helps you.

No, or they'd be anti-top-posting, like the rest of usenet is. 8>.

The Dell manual includes 16-step procedure to reset the motherboard's
password jumper.

That's a BIOS password, not an OS password.
