Loss of my 3 1/2 floppy

I have just completed downloading Windows XP. To my
surprise, when I try to use my 3 1/2 floppy drive it is
not there anymore. Does anyone know where it went and
how I get it back? Thanks!

Someone must have stolen your floppy drive. Also, peek into the drive bay
hole... it might have fallen inside your PC case :) While there, make sure
the floppy drive cables are correctly attached to the floppy drive and
motherboard. Then check the BIOS to have it enabled. If still it is not
there in MyComputer, Add New Hardware blah blah.

If you downloaded WinXP, then I wouldn't be surprised if all kinds of
things don't work - aka, you have "Pirate" software - the only
exception is if you have a full MSDN subscription and you downloaded
it from there - i.e MSDN subscription runs about 1100-1200 US dollars
per year.
