Loss music on dvd

Okay, I understand that I must have codec avi 2.
Otherwise I cannot get the music to my Sony click to dvd.
What is a codec and how do I convert an avi 1 to avi 2?
I really want to put these mm2 on dvd.
 
The Setup > Software page of my website has two utilities that you can
download to convert the type I DV-AVI files from MM2 into type I files for
use in other software.... they are the last ones in the Utilities section.
