Losing previoulsy created system restores

Before I make any changes to my PC including of course installing new
software I always create a restore point. How long do these restore points
stay valid and if I run any cleaning apps like Dustbuster XP does it delete
restore points? I ask because I cant see any of my previously created
restore ponts after I've run Dustbuster XP or performed a Diskcleanup by
right clicking on the drive in question. Am I the one who has
(un)intentionally deleted them??

Thanks

System Restore, by default, is allocated 12% of the drive for restore
points. This amount can be modified by entering SR and on the left side of
the page, selecting "system restore settings". The oldest point is deleted
when the allotted space is filled, to make room for the new one. Restore
points are also deleted after they are 90 days old. Disk cleanup will only
remove restore points if you go to the "more options" tab and elect to do
so. I am not familiar with "Dustbuster", but from what you say, I would
assume it is responsible for removing the points. You may want to try this;
create a few points manually and see if they show in SR. Run your Dust
buster and see if they are still there afterwards. That would give you a
positive answer.

Restore points will also be deleted for other reasons such as if the
available space on any of the monitored drives drops below a certain
level. If that happens system restore is suspended on all drives and
all restore points removed. When enough space becomes available then
system restore will automatically turn on. Other programs can cause
restore points to be deleted as well.

System Restore "restore points" are missing or deleted

Points will remain either until the allowance of disk space to System
Restore gets used up (when oldest will drop as needed), or for 90 days.
Provided nothing interferes with its files and records of them. There
is no saying what will happen if some third party tool gets at them, and
if you suspect Dustbuster of doing so I would drop it like a hot potato
