Losing connectivity

After booting my computer, I have internet connectivity for about 3-4 minutes
before losing it all; whenever I try to access a website, IE indicates it's
trying to connect to various IP addresses rather than sites; no connection at
all even though my connection screen indicates full connection; right IP,
right gateway, right subnet, etc. I have tried 2 different nic's and same
result; I have tried ipconfig and nothing. I have 4 computers on this gateway
and only this one is experiencing this problem; any ideas?

Try this:
Open the Run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]

Also be sure the Power Saving Option on the NIC not turned ON, to do that
go to the Device manager and under Network Adapter click your NIC and select
properties then click On Power management or Power Option and uncheck the box
for;
[ ] Let the computer Turn this device OFF for power saving.

Reboot the machine and try to connect.
Also I will scan this machine for malwares and Viruses:

I tried everything you suggested, including running my spyware program again;
rebooted and the connection lasted for only 3 minutes; maybe I should just
start over and reinstall XP and everything else.
Thanks

Thanks Jack (and everyone); your links seemed to contain the fix I needed.
Seems to be working fine, at least for now.
