I use Windows XP. For the past two months, I will lose my connection to the internet. The lights on my cable modem are lit up like normal, but I am unable to get onto web pages. I usually fix this by disabling and enabling the connection through control pannel. My isp sent out a service guy, and he said its almost definately software. I run spyware detecors and norton anti virus, but neither show anything. Help me please!

Have had XP for about a year and just recently every user but the administrator lost their connection to internet. We did the same, ran Norton, ad-ware. I found the same way to internet through control panel but even that now won't got to a second site. I'm really stumped. IE will not re-install because a "newer version" is already on computer. --Lori

Here's what just worked for me. Right click on IE, go to internet options, to program and click box that says check that IE is the default browser or something like that, then apply. That worked. Some spy deal must have undone that. Hope that helps!--Lor
