Loosing Internet Connection Problem

My friend has a problem where he can't stay connected to
the internet for more then two to three minutes. He gets
an error message and his computer reboots. The message
says "Shutdown initiated by NT Authority System. RPC
(Remote Proceedure Control) Terminated Unexpectedly. He
has run the most current Norton Anti-Virus program and
the McAfee "Stinger" Anti-Virus check and no viruses were
detected. He installed the MS patch for the Blaster worm
and ran the Blaster worm "detector". It says he is
clean. His computer stays on and works fine if he does
not connect to the internet but within minutes of
connecting to the internet he gets the above message and
the computer reboots.
Any help will be appreciated. He has a P-3, 1.4 gig
computer running Windows XP home and uses a dial up modem
with MSN as his provider. Thanks, Mac

Disreguard this question. I just noticed the other posts
on the RPC error message and the replies say that it is
being caused by the Blaster virus. Even though I went
through his computer with AV software and did the
updates, I guess I did something wrong. I will try
again. Mac
