When I return to my pc and try to log on, I am unable to
and must reboot. I contacted Verizon and the modem is
fine. I don't use a screen saver but it does go into a
power saver mode. It has done this from the beginning.
What's going on? Thanks, Ron

The psychics are currently on strike over working conditions and nobody but
them is able to divine remotely what your setup is. So for the rest of us
could you please reveal: your OS? modem type? how the modem is connected to
the computer, what other equipment might be installed (routers, switches,
etc)? other software which might be involved(such as Verizon-provided)? When
you say "must reboot" do you mean that to use the computer you must do so or
that to re-establish a DSL connection you must?

I didn't give the os as this is the XP board. Anyway, I
use WINXP. The Verizon modem is Westell 2200 connected to
the pc w/ethernet cable. The DSL program came from
Verizon. The only other hardware is the printer, no
routers or anything like that. My pc works fine. After a
few hours, I cannot log on unless I reboot the pc. It's
getting very annoying.

Hello Ron

Have you tried talking to your ISP provider T.Support
and see if they have any pending issue, with your service

Good. At least you aren't using a USB connection which should make things
much easier. First I'd suggest that you dump any proprietary software -- at
least for testing purposes. The Westell modem you have is the same one I use
with BellSouth and it is fully capable of connecting and logging in by
itself with no assistance from any external software if you've set it up
properly. Then I'd suggest that you go into the modem's setup menu's
advanced mode > configuration and set the modem's connecton mode to "always
on" This will cause it to re-connect automatically if it should lose
connection, at least as long as you've filled in the proper userid and
password in the modem's setup. The modem model you have is excellent and
should be able to maintain connection even if the line conditions are
abominable. Mine delivers 2500+ speeds even though I'm on the outer distance
limits from the wire center and does so very consistently. There is an
active message board over at www.dslreports.com which specializes in helping
people with problems such as this so you might want to drop by there too.
