Hi All

Every few hours my computer suddenly starts to freeze. When I click on Word
(or any app) in the taskbar it takes a minute to actually appears, and when
I click on the "File" option in Word to exit it, it also takes about a
minute (for each action).

a) This wasn't a problem initially (a few months ago)... so it is the same
hardware.
b) I have update AVG and did a complete virus-scan
c) I have already installed SP4

The only thing that works is to re-boot, but now it seems as the situation
has worsened... I am loosing ALL my fonts, except for "Device Font 10cpi",
"Device Font 12cpi" and "Device Font 17cpi". The only thing, currently, that
I have to do to get my fonts back is to re-install Windows. I am NOT sure if
these two problems are related.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Anton

A server is just that -- A Server.

It is not a workstation and there is no need for a server to use fonts.
In addition, you should be using a server based AV product and not a freebie version .

You need to rethink the way you use that platform!

Rob,

Read the "Subject" line.

Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees ...

I reread the body of the message twice looking for
something indicating which OS the OP was using.

Wearing my devil's advocate hat for a short while, how about if the OP
is using software which makes use of more processors and RAM than
Windows 2000 Pro allows for?

If that was the case, the OP would have spent numerous dollars on the platform, RAM and OS
and would NOT be so cheap as to install AVG. Even still, under these circumstances the
platform would be dedicated towards a particular functionality since it has such "hefty OS
and hardware requirements" and thus word-processing would not be performed on such a costly
platform

That's like buying a Rolls Royce and having the local Exxon station install a radio. It is
Highly Unlikely and the probability falls well below .5%.

Nice try. But hey, there are three sides to every coin -- not two.
