I am doing a tutorial that is using a database for Access 2000. I have Access 2003. In this tutorial we are "creating a Lookup Wizard Field"
I pull up the table in th design mode and click on data type for one of the fields, pull down and click on "Lookup Wizard
Access responds with a "help message" saying I can't do this because I have an existing relationship, if I go in and delete that relationship I can proceed".The problem is that I need to keep the existing relationship and be able to add another to them
Is this a glitch w/2003? How can I make it work
Help please!

You have to delete the relationship first, and then run the Lookup Wizard. When you are
finished, you'll be able to see that a relationship without RI (referential integrity) has been
re-established for you between the two tables. At this point, you can edit the relationship to
include RI.

This is a "feature" that was introduced with Access 2002. In Access 2000 and prior, there was no
need to first delete an existing relationship. Not sure why Microsoft made this change. Perhaps
this was causing an extra internal index of the foreign key field (?).....I dunno. Just a guess
on my part. If anyone knows the reason, I'd certainly be interested in learning why this change
was implemented.
