lookup or vlookup

the functions do not complete their tasks for all 600
rows automatically. I must click on the lookup cell then
click on it in the little box above with the "=" sign in
front of it. Then if I click in the cell with the
function and references it returns the correct looked up
info. Extra wierd. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

You would see this behavior if Calculation was set to Manual.

You can change the Calculation mode by going to Tools | Options |
Calculation(tab) and selecting which mode you want. Automatic is the
most common and generally useful. Manual can be helpful for certain
types of spreadsheets (often they are very large).

If you want to leave the Calculation mode as Manual, you can use the
F9 key to calculate the workbook on command.

Hope this helps,

Matthew

If you see the formulas in the formula cells instead of results,...

Activate Edit|Find.

Find what:

=

Replace with

=

If this is not the case, try to be more specific: For example, What are the
lookup values -- numbers?
