Lookup and return values

I'm looking up a value in the first column of a worksheet
and comparing it with a column in a second worksheet to
return the equivelent value of a third column in the
second worksheet. I have the key fields in the first
colum of each sheet and sorted by ascending, and this is
where I get stuck.

Can you help me to return the value
 
Hi Sammy

assuming that the value you're looking up is in Sheet1!A1 and the table
you're looking up to is in Sheet2!A1:B10 then
in sheet1!B1 (for example)
=VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A1:B10,2,false)
if you want an exact match or
=VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A1:B10,2,true) or =VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet2!A1:B10,2)
if you want an approximate match.

This will lookup the value in Sheet1!A1 in the table in sheet 2 and return
the value from the 2nd column of the table.
