That's actually a Gameport joystick, not a serial port device..
It's a common mistake since both types look so much alike.
The Gameport devices came equipped with Version 3.x drivers
The version 3 software, isn't compatible with XP however.
To install a GamePort controller, Plug it in, click Start / Control Panel /
Switch to Classic view if you haven't already / click Game Controllers
Click Add... / Select Microsoft Sidewinder Auto Detect / OK / OK.

Where can I find the driver for the Side Winder Force feedback Joy Stick for Windows xp Professional service pack 2. . It is a
serail port joy stick and MS took it out of their web site.
