Hi All,

Where can I find the driver for the Side Winder Force feedback Joy Stick for Windows xp Professional service pack 2. . It is a serail port joy stick and MS took it out of their web site.

Thanks,

Hi Doron,

That's actually a Gameport joystick, not a serial port device..
It's a common mistake since both types look so much alike.

The Gameport devices came equipped with Version 3.x drivers

The version 3 software, isn't compatible with XP however.

To install a GamePort controller, Plug it in, click Start / Control Panel /
Switch to Classic view if you haven't already / click Game Controllers
Click Add... / Select Microsoft Sidewinder Auto Detect / OK / OK.

Hi Jimmy,

I tried to follow your steps and still the Joy Stick did NOT respond to
games made by Miscrosoft. A game Hallo or flight simulator 2000
professional.

Any other suggestion is appreciated.

Hi Doron,

Is the stick recognised in the games when you setup your profile?
Are you able to test the stick in Control Panel / Game Devices?

Hi Jimmy,

Under the Control Panel/Game it is found but the Staus says Not Connected.
Where do we go from here?

Hi Doron,

If you tried the method we first discussed and it's not detected,
you might need to update your sound card drivers to improve the
response of it's game port, however, considering how old that
technology is, perhaps you should upgrade to a USB model?

Doron,

Do you have more than one gameport on the system? Sometimes there is a
gameport on the motherboard even if there isn't a connector. You will have
to check the BIOS and disable it if there is. Joysticks do not usually like
having more than one gameport on the system.
