Looking for bootable recovery software

Eric

Hi All,

I am looking for bootable recovery software that can restore a bootable
partition that got corrupted. Any recommendations are appreciated. I checked
with Acronics and it does not repair a corrupted partition.

Thanks,

Eric

Acronis does little the user can't already do.
Regular back ups of "user data" is always the way to go.

That and the original installation disk can "recover" any PC.

Disk imaging was made for repeat installs of the same data.

Has little use in the home market.

I just demoed one of their products.

A sucker is born every minute came to mind.

Well, it's not easy to do sector level backups without something
like acronis. Even a plain old file system image isn't easy in windows.

Pfffft. You need more than system state and My Documents to
actually recover. If you're going to backup system state and Program Files
and Windows and Documents and Settings might as well backup the other 5MB,
huh? A disk image backup is much faster and more likely to be complete than
is a user level "system" backup, which is primarily useful for recovering
specific files and directories.
Disk imaging was made for repeat installs of the same data.

That's certainly one thing you can use it for.

Hmmm. I get it. You're trolling, right?

No, acronis is shit.
No user needs to backup "system state"

Push that BS in another direction.

People can easily change all that stuff.

Dweebs like you sell that crap...to uwary victims...not me.

People...back up you personal data...all that setting shit is by default
anyway.

Back up drivers...and you're set.

I always have the latest MB, graphics, printer drivers saved.

Instant recovery.

Acronis is a dog for lazy people thinking it is doing something remarkable.

It isn't.

Hi There,

In case the boot secion is corrupted, and looking to see what tools are out
there either for Vista or XP. I mean having the capability to boot from
bootable cd and use some tools like bootable version of CheckDisk and
others to repiar the C partition.

Thanks,

Eric

Dude...you do realise 16 GB thumdrives exist ?
I can backup the entire My Documents, every program add-on and update,
pictures, videos, drivers, on a thumb drive.

I don't need to "image" the entire drive.

With high speed internet, catching up with updates is less than an hour.

Come on .... modems are dead.

So is acronis for home use.
