Look up wizard for combo box

I would like my combo box to enter data into my table as the actual data
instead of only a number. Is this posible? I seem to remember that it was
very simple in older versions of access. What's up? I'm currently using
Access 2002.
 
Not an expert but, could you give a bit more detail such as where is your
combobox getting its contents, what do you see and what gets recorded,
etc...
