Hi, what's "REC", "EXT" and "OVR" mean? How to find relates help
document? Thanks.

Ask the help about "status bar" which is the name of the strip along the
bottom of the window.

The help topic titled "Items that appear in the status bar" has these
explanations:
--------------------
REC
Shows the macro recorder status. Double-click REC to turn the macro recorder
on or off. When the recorder is off, REC appears dimmed.

TRK
Shows the track changes status. Double-click TRK to turn the Track Changes
feature on or off. When changes are not being tracked, TRK appears dimmed.

EXT
Shows the extend selection mode status. Double-click EXT to turn the mode on
or off. When selection mode is off, EXT appears dimmed.

OVR
Shows the overtype mode status. Double-click OVR to turn the mode on or off.
When overtype mode is off, OVR appears dimmed.
--------------------

It doesn't mention it, but you can also right-click the TRK item to get a
popup menu.

If you have tooltips turned on, hovering the mouse over the items shows
their names. If you don't have tooltips turned on, you should -- go to Tools

Sure-

Extended Selection mode turns your mouse into a tool strictly for the
purpose of selecting text. In view of the numerous and easier techniques
available most typical users don't use it.

OverType Mode is used for editing text, so that as you type new content it
replaces the text to the right on a character-by-character basis. It is
really a legacy feature that few new users ever bother with and many
experienced users have moved away from.

Long story short, 'old timers' who have learned to work with those features
swear _by_ them whereas most newer users discover them by accident and swear
_at_ them!

Thanks for the help.
Can you please give me a sample how to use EXT and OVR?
