Well here you are for all those interested. Longhorn has
been leaked at last along with links to NGs and such. Just
do an internet search it's all over. Even microsoft has
links to longhorn bug fixes already. This lays to rest all
those nay sayers who claimed Longhorn would not be out
until 2005 or 6. Like I said almost a year ago fall of
2004 is it. Can you say Adios XP.

I slipstreamed a copy back in june into XP Pro , I hope
there is more that there was then, not worth the trouble,
unless you like lot's of color in your didplay. Guess
we'll see.

Win95 was better then Dos systems.
Win98 was better then win95.
I did not have a win2000 or winME so not sure there.
WinXP is much better then Win98.

However there are lots of people having troubles
with winXP. Why? Well sometimes it is people
doing it to themselves. If careful you will not
get problems. How do you catch a cold from someone?

Think Longhorn(?) will be better then winXP?
Probably but people will not like it because it
is not like win98/ME/XP!!! Will people want to
learn how to use it? No because most just want a
good game machine and email tool.

You have got to be the stupid person ever. This is a pre-beta release done
a PDC. It's not even in beta yet. It will be released 2006 as Microsoft
just said at PDC. If you download and use this OS you WILL NOT GET SUPPORT.
Build 4051 was released to developers so they know how to develop for the
new OS.

No one will be left in the dirt. anyone trying to get support will not.
For the people that paid a large price to get into PDC they know that this
is a pre-beta release for development purposes ONLY.

| I wonder what all our XP-MVP's going to do, get left in
| the dirt.....lol

They'll probably all be XP2-MVPs. ;-)

You will still be waiting until 2006. If you want to know what you might
get in that PC, here's what Big Bill has to say. btw, wish Bill a happy
48th birthday today. oh, and again "Longhorn" will NOT BE RELEASED until
2006.

*4-6GHz processor
*2GB+ memory
*1TB hard drive
*Graphics processor 3X today's performance
*1GB Ethernet, 54Mbps wireless networking

"Chris Lanier" Said !!!!!!

"You have got to be the stupid person ever."

That is a broad statement to make about a poster. While
you may not agree with him/her it's not nice to make those
kind of comments. Be nice Chris or we'll give you a
spanking...lol

sorry that you feel that way. but it is plain stupidity to come in a
newsgroup and state completely false info. along with that promoting the
idea that you should go and download it when it has not and will not be
released final for years.

Listen here putz. Did I ask for support. Who said anything
about wanting or needing support. I simply said Longhorn
has been released. I never mentioned whether it was Beta
or not. Are you so stupid you can't read? Keep smiling.

Hey Chris who crapped in your corn flakes. Read my
original post again you putz. I never said anything about
final release or beta or testing or anything or even
support. I simply said that Longhorn has been leaked and
is available for download. BTW Microsoft is well aware of
this and is fact incouraging it so they can use the
resources of the general public to iron out the bugs. You
really need to take a downer Chris and change your shorts
I have a feeling they have crawled way to far up your butt
for you to be comfortable. Keep smiling.

Sorry, changing it now! :) Making an FAQ since this will for sure for a
large topic. remember: NO SUPPORT! lol

The fact that we made available an Alpha release of the product in no ways
implies that we will be ready to release to manufacture this year or even
next.
This is a developers preview release and is not fully functional nor a
complete representation of the actual feature sets and functionality you
will see in the final product.
The first Beta release won't be until some time next year so we then have
more beta releases and release candidates before we are final.
Don't think build 4051 is all there is to Windows "Longhorn". A huge amount
of it a person just installing the build will not see unless they are
developer and start leveraging he new Visual Studio we also made available
in pre beta to the PDC 2003 attendees and the new internal technologies.

So in Fall 2004 you may still be using an early Beta, so I doubt you will be
saying "Adios XP." just yet.

Your quote: "I simply said Longhorn has been released".

NO! It has NOT been released!

Helloooo?
What happened to YOUR breakfast?
Sorry to hear about the elephant in your breakfast nook...
Chris in no way invited your emptyheaded vituperation, Pee.

"This lays to rest all those nay sayers who claimed Longhorn would not be
out until 2005 or 6. "
I think not, Mr. Foulmouth. What is "out" now is equivalent to a leaked
prototype.
