Long delay before Run Dialog appears

Using Windows XP SP3 on a decently fast machine (2GB RAM, dual core
CPU).

Occasionally, there is a four to eight second delay after hitting WIN-
R before the run dialog appears. This happens even after I clear the
run dialog history. Never used ZoneAlarm or similar software. Any
ideas how to troubleshoot?

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Yes, I am running McAfee 8, Counterspy Enterprise, Spybot Search &
Destroy, plus operating behind a pretty tight corporate firewall. I'm
pretty certain this isn't a malware issue.

Also, a reboot usually fixes the delay. I'd just like to be able to
track it down and eliminate it without needing to reboot.
