I never used to have to type in anything to logon before. After loading my
desktop page would show. Now I have to either type in a password or click on
my name (administrator). I tried editing the logon process usin " TweakIt "
but it was to no avail. Any ideas?

Go into control pannel. Look what the individual accounts are set up
like. I was looking around in them last night and sae that you could
specify whether passwords were required or not.

Dennis, this problem comes up often. Check out these two things (courtesy of
Rick Rogers):

1. Click start/run, type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and
click ok. In the user list, click on the user that you want to be the
default. Uncheck the box requiring a username and password, click apply/ok
and follow the prompts to set up a default logon.

2. For standby, open the display properties and go to the screensaver tab.
Uncheck "on resume display welcome screen". Then click power options and on
the advanced tab uncheck "prompt for password when computer resumes from
standby".

Happening frequently recently - probably because auto update installed
a .NET component that you don't want, don't need ... but what the
hell, Microsoft give it to you in the middle of the night ... they are
so caring and sharing.

Your suggestions helped - thanx.

Dear Boletus, I followed the instructions you gave Dennis to no avail.
I then started up in Safe Mode selecting use last successful setting
options, but still came up with the Administrator Logon window again with no
password.
I'm left now with no access to try anything else.
What next? Thanks,
Forest Gump

I don't think Boletus is here!

Get rid of what component? What problem are you having? Autologin after a
windows update? If that's the case go back to widows update and get the
update for .Net framework 1.1
