Logon Screen after screen saver comes on

I just installed a full version of WinXP Home on my HP Laptop (N5445).

Everything went well once I got the drivers from HP. However, when
the SCREEN SAVER comes on - then it reverts to the LOGON screen and I
must select the only user icon I have, FAMILY and then it logs back
on.

This does not happen on my Desktop machine that I built which also has
WinXP HOME that I configured identically.

I have looked at every option setting I can think of and it still
happens.

Any ideas out there ??

Thanks

I don't know yet, I will look at it. The part that is confusing, is
that I did not specify a logon when I installed WinXP Home. I
installed it just like I did on my Desktop a couple of weeks ago and
there is no password their either and it does not do the same thing
when the screen saver engages.

(I know, I am a security risk, however, I sit behind an hardware and
software firewall, so it does not get a whole lot better than that in
the real bad world of the Internet.)

Thanks

Tried it and it did not work. Any other ideas ??

Hi Phil,

Thank you for posting here.

Actually this is a feature of Windows' screen saver. You can prevent your Windows XP from going to the logon screen when a screen saver is launched.
To do so:

1. Right click on your desktop and choose Properties.

2. Click the "Screen Saver" tab.

3. Uncheck the "On resume, password protect" check box.

4. Click OK.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further concerns.

Sincerely,

Hi Phil,

Right click the Desktop/Properties/Screen Saver tab, look at the options
for your Screen saver and also Uncheck the "On resume, password protect"
option.

Also in the Monitor Power settings using the Power button. Look on the
Advanced tab, and the Options section, uncheck the "Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby" option.

Kelly and Cliff,

Thanks for the HELP !!

It was right on and I must have missed that little box. I still
don't understand how on a COLD XP Install it got checked when that did
not happen on either of the other two, I did this month.

Thanks again.

1. Right click Desktop
2. Select Properties
3. Select Screen Saver
4. Un-tick option 'On resume, display Welcome screen'
