I have a computer running XP Pro and one using 2K Pro,
and another using 98 FE. Each of the computers can
connect to my router, and log on to the router. Each of
them can connect to the Internet through the router.
None of them, however, can see the other. I can ping the
router from any of the computers, and each of the
computers gets their IP address from the router, and
there is no overlapping of IP addresses, but I can't ping
one computer from the other. The 2K and XP machines
normally involve the same user name and password but the
98 machine has no password. Each of the computers are in
the same workgroup, and the router is also. None of them
have Netbeui or IPX/SPX installed; only TCP/IP. Why
can't they see each other? The XP box has a new MB,
because of a crash and burn, but the hard drive was
moved, booted right up, and of course I had to have the
OS reauthorized by MS. Until that happened, I was able
to use the resources from either machine by mapping the
drives and reconnecting at bootup. Now mapping does not
see any of the other machines, and when I check, I am
unable to find any of the others as present on the
network. All hard drives are shared, using the C$ name
on the given computer, with full rights. Still, no
luck? What am I missing?

have you enabled netbios over tcp/ip?
