Hello to all,
Our client has a Windows 2000 Server on the domain setup via an existing
company. However, the client PCs are all on XP. They are all on the same
workgroup not domain.
They all have a mapped drive to files on the server and cannaccess these no
problem.
However, I tried to do the same with a Windows XP Professional PC, but when
I tried to map the drive a username and password logon box keeps appearing. I
checked settings from other PCs and they all appear to be the same as this
one.
I am confused as to the the logon screen as it shows something like:-
username:-client50\administrator
password
assword has been entered
I type in the administrator password for the domain or local PC but the same
logon box appears. client50 is the name of the XP PC. When I change client50
to server/administrator which is the name of the server it still does the
same. How should the details actually be entered into the username box and
what should be actually be entered?
Also, why is this happening when all other PCs are fine.
I couldn't even see files on the server whnen trying to map the drive like
the other PCs can. Yet the XP machine can get Internet access!!!
Please help,
Many thanks,
Jeff
