It basically says, never use your Main Administrative Account as a user
Set up with a very strong password.
Create a second Administrative Account to be able to get into the OS to
reset a Main Admin. account corrupted password or other problems.
Third, create yourself a user account as a Power User, and read why you
should limit exposure to hackers by limiting your capabilities in the this
account. You can use Run as... command to make administrative changes like
running defrag, which incidentally does need to be ran only according to its
use.
Set up limited access accounts for other Users, so they will not change the
individual settings you have set. And there be no need to manage and use
several users email accounts, because everyone uses the same account.
This is really important to begin with. A lot harder to redo after you are
started.
Keep a logbook of every change and addition of third party applications, and
make it easier to Clean Install when necessary.
You also may want to peruse the Backup program, where making ERD's is very
important to be kept timely.
You can place your password using PGP to make it even more safe.

Hi,
I have installed a new HD, therefore my OS as well (W2K Pro).
Unlike my previous HD, when I log on I get the "Log On Adimistrator" box, I
then need to click enter to carry on with the booting (password is blank).
I'd like to know I to get rid of this box, I even don't know why it pops
out, but definitely I don't want it in the middle of my booting process.
Thank you
Alex
