Login to preferred domain controller?

Guest

Question:

If I have installed a new AD domain controller (also configured as a Global
Catalog Server) and want a workstation to login to the domain and only login
to that 1 new of 3 domain controllers available, how can I configure that
workstation to request that the preferred login server be that new domain
controller?

Thank you for your help!

This isn't something that you'd normally want to do, but it can be achieved.
You need to change the priorities and weightings on the SRV records that the
DCs register in DNS.

Yeah, I agree with Paul.

This isn't something you really want to do. This thinking is more of a
throwback to Novell or NT4. Computing has really moved to a state where
services and changes are more ubiquitously available as an enterprise
service rather than a single component offering a service. (In Novell's
defense, it is this way with modern implementations of Netware.)

Consider leaving things they way they are meant to work as an option unless
you have a real driving need to change it.
