Hello All,

I have recently had to demote one of my DC's that was running the PDC role
for my domain. Since then all roles are assigned to another DC and
everything seems to be running fine. The only problem that I am having is a
real noticable slowness when loggin into any systems on the domain "30-45
seconds".

I was thinking that somewhere in the AD database there might besome
references to the old DC so I ran NTDSutil, but none existed. I even tried
runnnig dcdiag but it wont run due to some *.dll issue even with a reinstall
of the utility.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do to troubleshoot this problem
or what might be causing it.

Regards,

Roger

At what point do you notice slowness? What is on the screen when you are
waiting to logon? Have you checked the event log on the clients for errors?
There may be some useful information there.
How many DCs do you have? Are the clients in different physical locations
or are they on the same LAN? Are you using roaming profiles?

Enable userenv logging on the client. That should provide more info. See
the article below on how to enable it.
