Login (newbie)

I'm completely mixed things between session,state, login, validation, ...
I want to make a simple login page, and pre-defined users in DB can login
and signout, where can I find a good and simple tutorial about that? tried
searching many times, but didn't got a simple thing.
 
Simply search Google for "Forms Authentication" There are plenty of
examples out there.
