I have two pc's running XP pro which are networked
together through a simple hub.
I am trying to log on to to the other pc as the admin but
the only option given to me is to log on a guest.
I can get round this by giving the guest account on this
pc admin rights but this causes security issues.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Jon.

Go to strat>run and enter

secpol.msc

select security options in the left pane, then scroll down till you see
"Network Access: Sharing and Security made for the local accout" then change
to Classic.

This should work if you are not trying to connect via FTP.

Jon,

Disable Simple File Sharing (Control Panel - Folder Options - View - Advanced
settings). Then check the Local Security Policies (Control Panel -
Administrative Tools). Under Local Policies - Security Options, look at
"Network access: Sharing and security model", and ensure it's set to "Classic -
local users authenticate as themselves".
