When i log off, it takes over 1 hour for it to log off............it sticks
on the "Closing Network Connections" screen. Any idea why it takes so long?

Thanks,

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

If the computer is clean, go through this shutdown troubleshooter:

Im AV free.....using Norton Internet Security 2006.

the only thing that i can remember doing is creating a batch file.......

net use H:\ \\dining_room\K\%username% /no

but im cant see why this would cause problems, as it works fine on my older
machine..............

I looked at that page, and didnt see nething related to whats problems im
having....

Troubleshooting must be deductive and methodical, most often using the
process of elimination. Check your batch file to make sure it is
correctly written and that there are no typos. Stop the batch file to
see if that makes a difference.

The shutdown troubleshooter helps you go through various steps to narrow
down what is causing the issue. There is no "one-stop silver bullet".
If you are unable or unwilling to do the necessary work (and there is
no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), have a professional
come on-site and take a look.

they have the default account name set to "HP_Administrator".

I changed it in control panel and computer management to "James" (me), but
how do i get all refernces to HP_Administrator to James?

You can't just change the name of a user account. The files/folders will
still remain in the original user name. Instead, make a new user
account. You can then copy the data and settings from the original
account if you want. You must log in once to the new account before you
can copy anything to it.
