I have been using ACCESS 2000 for a database application
on an NT level network for about 18 months. Suddenly this
week it reports that I have exclusive control as a Admin
all the time. Even if I shut down my workstation, the
backup system says I have the database open.

Is there a way to force the database closed? Or force the
particular user off the database? My particular network
supervision hate ACCESS and say they won't do anything
to "support it."

Thanks to anyone who can help.

John,

My guess is some user didn't close Access properly, so the lock file wasn't
cleared. Look for a file with the same name as the .mdb and extension .ldb
in the same folder, and try to delete it (while you know no user is in). If
my guess is correct, you'll be able to delete the lock file and release the
..mdb.

HTH,
Nikos
