Log4net vs MS Enterprise Logging App Block

Daniel Bass

Hey guys,

Just an opinions thing more than anything. I've just been messing around
with Log4Net and discovered the Logging Application Block in the Enterprise
Library (3.1).

Have you used either/both of these?
What's your opinion on them?
What were you using it for? (general logging, sending smtp alerts etc)

Thanks for your input.
Dan.

I've only used log4net (and liked it) but if you search for
comparisons you'll find there are plenty available, even if several
are quite old. This one is reasonably compelling:

I don't know if the more recent versions of LAB have hierarchical
logging - that's what I think I'd miss most from log4net, personally.

Good, after implementing a solution around log4net, i was dreading having to
go back and reengineer it to a "better" solution.

Cheers.
Dan.
