Log on windows password

A tech built my machine and put in some username and password to make it
easy for me that I would never see the wretched logon screen. He now does
not remember what he used. I have administrator rights.

Something changed several months ago, so now on bootup, I get the W2K
double password screen, cancel twice, boot up, but it's still a pain.

I have found in W98SE, that once that screen appears, 20 different fixes
may still not solve it. And all the W9X data I saved is not applicable to
W2K.

I have used several apps to try to change the data, I can find and change
the username, but not the password.

I would really like to set it to not require a logon screen, as I am a home
user with no security issues.

Having a machine for which you do not know the administrator's
password is a very poor way of running things. and leads to
obvious problems. Much better to record the account name and
the password in a safe place, then to automate the logon process.

To automate the logon process: Control Panel / Users and Passwords:
Untick the box that requires users to enter a password.
